Case Study: Point to Point Wireless Bridge

Drastically increase bandwidth between offices near each other



Recently completed point-to-point (PTP) bridge installation to provide wireless backhaul for a remote location. (Picture Below)



Challenge: The only connectivity to local network or internet resources was via a T1 line topping out at 1.5 Mbps bandwidth at remote site.  


Resolution: After performing an analysis of the surrounding environment between headquarters and the remote site, BTS determined a point -to-point (PTP) bridge to provide a 200 Mbps wireless backhaul would be a cost effective and reliable solution to provide adequate bandwidth for both local network and internet connectivity at the remote site.

The remote office staff are now able to work without restriction utilizing the headquarters 50 Mbps Fiber circuit.

  • The cost of a clear channel T1 line was about $400.00 per month for 1.5 Mbps (10 year cost of $48,000)
  • Point-to-Point wireless bridge one-time cost of $6,000.00 for 200 Mbps of throughput (Significant savings over 10 year period)
  • Drastically increase bandwidth between office with line of site within 5 miles. 


If you have offices within 5 miles of each other with line of site, this could be a great way to reduce cost,  increase bandwidth between sites, and obtain reliable connectivity.

BTS is offering Free Training Classes before upgrading.  We are offering morning and afternoon classes.  Both class's will be 4 hours long.

If you currently have a ShoreTel Support Agreement this ShoreTel Software Upgrade is included in your ShoreTel Support Agreement and will be performed by our Engineers.  There is no charge for the upgrade or this Training Class.  We encourage all our customers to contact us and attend our training class to learn more about all the new features your ShoreTel System has to offer you.

Advanced Troubleshooting and Training

This course provides an 8 hour instructor-led, highly interactive, hands-on course for individuals responsible for configuring and maintaining the base unified communications (UC) systems, including installing the ShoreTel(Connect) Software and configuring hardware.  Using Director, you configure system parameters, sites, servers, switches, PSTN trunks, SIP trunks, phones, and users.  You will learn how to perform system backups and restoration, in-depth knowledge of advanced features, troubleshooting tools and techniques, and how to create a test plan to verify system functionality.  You will learn about the benefits of Virtualization, Sip Trunking, and Disaster Recovery.
